Verse 52

"Wherefore, let us take of the abranches of these which I have planted in the nethermost parts of my vineyard, and let us graft them into the tree from whence they came; and let us pluck from the tree those branches whose fruit is most bitter, and graft in the natural branches of the tree in the stead thereof".

Recently as I was reading this chapter, this line really stood out to me: "whose fruit is most bitter." My thought was about the correlation in the Book of Mormon that at the time of the great destruction before the appearance of Jesus Christ that those we were saved were more righteous than the others, but not necessary all righteous.
In 3 Nephi 9: 13 O all ye that are spared because ye were more righteous than they, will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?
Here, The Lord commands his servants to remove the branches whose fruit is most bitter.
While we strive for perfection, we will not, cannot reach it in this life. While we do the very best we can, we fail, repent, and continue to try to move forward. As long as we do this, The Lord of the vineyard will be merciful to us as depicted in this verse.
